To protect people’s privacy, I have anonymized any names and pictures. Here are a few of the popular opinions people have in favor of Bose and/or Lightspeed. The Bose A20 vs Lightspeed Zulu question is one that gets asked a lot in some of the pilot/aviation Facebook groups I’m in. One downside is that the PNR and ANR are so good that you will need to take it off one ear when the cabin crew comes into the flight deck to be able to talk. For long-haul flying, it does get a little bulky but the superb sound clarity and noise reduction outweigh this. This could be convenient as this is the same side the headset cord is attached, which you might want to adjust. Our view is that the Bose A20 is the best all-round headset you can get at the moment. On the other hand, the A20 offers the very convenient feature of a side-swappable microphone, allowing you to mount the mic on your preferred side of the headset. Private pilots will get the best possible price/quality from the Bose A20 Aviation Headset. ![]() It’s a comfortable quality aviation headset making Active Noise Reduction very affordable. Pilots can (and do) debate which headset is the quietest, but the reality is that all three of these headsets provide excellent noise reduction. Also Great: Faro Air, A remarkably light in-ear headset with impressive comfort. For student pilots, we recommend the Faro G2 ANR Aviation Headset. The Bose A20 seems to have the best balance of the three most important features for pilots: quiet, comfort, and clarity. BOTTOM LINE: I would recommend this to a friend. Aerotion Aviations Headsets combine exceptional build quality with industry-leading technology to create some of the best pilot headsets in the market. Runner-Up: UFQ L-2, Much cheaper than the ProFlight but with comparable battery life. HMEC 250 - Aviation Headset - Pilot Headset - excellent speech transmission - Active. Major - Best ANR headset for 737-800 - I need a new headset for the 737 800 just wondering what most people use to help endure some of the cockpit noise. The Bose A20 has a little extra (theoretical) battery life compared to the Zulu 3, but this depends on many factors of course, such as whether you are listening to music through Bluetooth, for example.Īnother difference is the Zulu 3 offers compatibility with Lightspeed’s FlightLink system, which allows pilots to record their conversations via an iPad or iPhone with the free Lightspeed app. Best Overall: Bose ProFlight 2, Similar to the A20 in a smaller (arguably) more comfortable package. ![]() ![]() Both headsets utilize standard AA-type batteries, making it easy to quickly change batteries before or during a flight when they run low.
